Thimble is a plastic mold accessory used in plastic molds. The thimble can also be called a push pin, inlay, middle needle, or needle. Sometimes the tip of a lathe is also called a thimble. Use of thimble:
1. In plastic molds, it is also the most commonly used to separate products from molds.
2. Cemented carbide thimbles, such as tungsten steel thimbles, can be used to pass longer and thinner holes;
3. The thimble is also called the tip. It is a cone-shaped metal round rod on the head that is assembled on a lathe or grinder to support the workpiece and rotate the workpiece around it, but it is completely different from the thimble of plastic mold accessories;
4, plastic mold thimble can also be used in the mold, it can play a stable role, is called inlay pin.
The types of plastic mold thimbles are: flat thimbles, domes, needles, standard thimbles, non-standard thimbles, etc.
The materials of the plastic mold thimble are SKH51, SKD61, SKD11, 65Mn and so on. SKH51 thimble has better toughness than SKD61. SKD61 thimble can withstand high temperature of 1600 ℃. After nitriding the surface of SKD61 thimble, it can improve the wear resistance of thimble. 65Mn thimble is poor in quality, brittle and easy to break. Some plastic molds no longer assemble and use thimbles made of 65Mn.
